Gina Gershon was born on June 10, 1962 in Los Angeles, California to a Jewish family. She is the daughter of Mickey (nee Koppel), an interior decorator and Stan Gershon who worked in the import/export business and sales. She attended Beverly Hills High School at the same time with artist Lenny Kravitz. After high school, Gina moved to Boston where she attended Emerson College up until she moved to New York and took up drama and child psychology at the New York University. She also attended the Circle in the Square Professional Theater School in New York, working with David Mamet and Harold Guskin. She is one of the founding members of the New York-based theater group Naked Angels. She has thrice appeared on Broadway, as Sally Bowles in the revival of Cabaret, in the revival of the sex farce Boeing-Boeing, and will be seen as of September, 2009 in the role of Rosie in the revival of Bye Bye Birdie. Her first acting venues were stage appearances in Camille and The Substance of Fire.
